Universal Health Care is a multipart installation illuminated by UV reflector lights. The most prominent object of the installation is a central, rectangular form resembling a flag hanged on the wall. On its left and right side, two glass circles are placed holding white mantles. In front of the “flag” and the mantles lays a composition of laboratory glass pieces filled with detergent powder and organized on a wooden table. Finally, UV light is projected on all mentioned elements from three reflectors located above the work. The whole installation represents a fictive space for the viewer similar to a hospital or laboratory room. Namely, it is a recreated space which can be understood as a reference to problems of contemporary medical facilities and a discourse involving medical care in the era of various capitalistic conformations. With this work, the author compares notions of every-day hygiene with those of control by juxtaposing allusive motives of cleanliness such as white fabric or detergent alongside a stylized symbol of power occupied by a latticed “flag”. Ultraviolent emission additionally highlights the aspect of cleanliness; under it, chlorine and fabric colors intensively glow creating an almost ephemeral, illusory ambient.
