Vanishing Room is an installation that combines geometric elements with LED lights. This installation is constructed as a large cubic object with different elements in its interior. The object’s outer structure is covered with canvas, while, inside, a metal chair is hanged along with various light bulbs and diodes. The chair is obstructed by the fabric and seems almost invisible because of the amount of light concentrated inside the installation. The exterior covered in canvas slightly emits warm light appearing almost translucent when viewed from a smaller distance. Combined with aforementioned objects found inside the work, the exterior of the installation also shows faint shadows (mostly those produced by light reflecting off of the metal chair). Together, all of the presented elements constitute an enclosed ambiental work that plays with perception and space. The installation also touches themes connected to the subject of power found in society, power that stems from corruption and mass media, both of which are here represented in a satirical way – as a “levitating glowing throne”.
