The work Recounting End Times is a spatial installation in which sound is used as the main conceptual element. The installation is based on an initial construction made from eight wooden objects overlayed with aluminum tin and positioned on a gray carpet in space. The final form of the construction resembles a tunnel in which two speakers are placed and connected to an outside amplifier and media player. The sounds inside the construction are excerpts from different scientific articles that, through statistical data and theoretical calculations, predict possible catastrophic outcomes in today’s world. The themes of mentioned articles range from those concerning biology and astrophysics to those of economy and sociology, and they are read by a computer program and thereby converted to sound recordings. The installation Recounting End Times is an allegorical turn on phenomena such as the need for security, the illusion of security, and the obsession with security.
